Prof. Sachiko Murata and Prof. William. C. Chittick are both the professors of Asian and Asian American Studies, Stony Brook University. Invited by Prof. Tu Weiming, they become the first visiting professors of “The Ken’an Rifai Distinguished Professorship of Islamic Studies”, and give a course named of “Studies of Islamic Philosophy” in Peking University for the 2012 spring semester, which is a major breakthrough, for it is the first time that Peking University to offer courses in Islamic Studies. The course, to some extent, broadens students’ visions, and thus promotes the image and position of Peking University in the world. At the same time, these two distinguished professors also throw a course for graduate students in Minzu University of China, invited by Prof. Yang Guiping of Department of Philosophy and Religion.
