Under the suggestion of Mr. Tu, the Friday Reading Salon of Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies at Peking University (“IAHS”) has been organized over three years since September, 2013 as an academic salon which mainly engages post-doctoral and doctoral students of IAHS, as well as young teachers, doctoral students and postgraduates from other schools and departments. Adhering to the tradition of seminar-based learning advocated by Mr. Tu, the reading salon engages participants to cultivate own moral character and build personality and generates a community characterized by lively discussions, acrimonious exchanges and solid academic researches, thus contributing to the generation of a range of relevant academic achievements.
