IAHS invited Martin Powers, Professor of Chinese Arts and Culture at the University of Michigan, to present a lecture and a seminar at Peking University. Prof. Tu Weiming invited Prof. Martin Powers to present a lecture on China’s cultural politics in the past 400 years, and a comparative study of China’s bureaucracy in Song dynasty and political discourses during the enlightenment in Great Britain. Martin Powers is the Sally Michelson Davidson Professor of Chinese Arts and Culture in the University of Michigan. He has twice received Joseph Levenson Prize for his works on Chinese art history.
